Fashion Place Mall Demolition

This project consisted of demolishing the outdated Nordstrom building at Fashion Place mall. Reynolds Brothers performed the full scale building demolition and subcontracted A-Core Inc. to perform selective demolition in order to safely execute the complete project. A-Core demolished two critical sections of wall, one of which was a very serious threat to some nearby structures. It was a fully reinforced masonry wall with brick veneer. We demolished this using boom lifts, jackhammers and compressors, and specialized manual labor. The eastern portion of wall that we removed was a much larger section that ran the entire length of the Nordstrom’s building, this wall was a solid, fully reinforced masonry wall with brick veneer on the exterior; it stood approximately 12’ to 20’ taller than the remaining portions of the mall.

A-Core crews faced the challenging task to keep all materials and debris inside of the existing structure. The demolition crews began removing this wall using jackhammers and specialized labor, but quickly realized that it was necessary to use more productive measures. So, A-Core employed several different pieces of equipment; which included our Brokk 330, Brokk 180, Bobcat skid steer, and Bobcat 337 mini excavator. According to the project superintendent, the use of A-Core’s Brokk 180 proved to be the solution to demolishing the wall safely and quickly. Successful completion of this project could not have been accomplished without A-Core’s priority of long-term investment in highly-specialized equipment that is tailored to the customer’s needs.
